Your Church Home In The Hills

UMW

United Methodist Women(UMW) is an important segment of the United Methodist Church. The National Organization is composed of nearly a million women, in one hundred different countries. Last year they gave 25 million dollars to Mission projects throughout the world, with major focus being on women and children. Our own UMW has forty members and gives close to $3,000 a year to local and international missions. We provide a variety of services, such as:

1.  Overseeing the church kitchen and providing meals for funerals and a variety of church functions.

2. The Willing Workers sew and quilt blankets, knit sweaters, make school bags to help meet the needs of families suffering from tornadoes, hurricanes, overseas disasters, etc.

3.  A project we share with the Baptist women is called, “The Mother’s Baskets.” New Mothers in the area, who are usually unwed teenagers with little means, are given a basket, with personal items they will be needing.

4. Our Church library has new books and is in operation because of the UMW women who support it.

The United Methodist Women are proud of the work they do within the walls of the Church, within our own community and throughout the world.

All women of the church are invited to attend the UMW meetings that are held the 2nd Tuesday of each month, with dessert luncheon at 1:00 and the Program and Meeting at 1:30. The programs are educational, interesting and inspiring. The fellowship with the women is wonderful!
